What Is the DV Lottery?
The Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery, also known as the Green Card Lottery, is a U.S. government program that provides eligible individuals from countries with historically low immigration rates an opportunity to apply for permanent residency in the United States.
Participants are selected through a random lottery process. However, being selected does not guarantee a Green Card. Applicants must still meet all eligibility requirements and successfully complete the immigration process.
DV-2027 Registration Status
The U.S. Department of State has announced changes to the DV-2027 registration schedule. Official registration dates have not yet been confirmed.
Applicants should follow official announcements and prepare their information and photographs in advance.
Important: Diversity Visa issuance is currently subject to a U.S. Department of State pause. Applicants should check official announcements for updates.
Who Can Apply for DV-2027?
To participate in the Diversity Visa Lottery, applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements.
1. Country of Birth
Eligibility is generally determined by your country of birth, not your citizenship.

Not Sure If Your Photo Meets the Requirements?
Before submitting your DV Lottery application, you can use an online photo checker to review your photograph.
